    Sorry the Homestead grapple fell so short of your expectations. I can't blame you for being let down, but at this point, it's paid for, you own it, so use the crap out of it until it won't hold together. A couple of years have gone by, and unfortunately, Everything Attachments has fallen on hard times, and their viability is in serious doubt. I own a couple of their implements, and they are definitely top drawer, I recently was shopping for a grapple, and they definitely would have been my first choice. I ended up with a Dirt Dog, manufactured in my home state of Georgia, so I hope I won't be disappointed.

    A couple of questions: 1) How about coffee filters instead of paper? 2) If you have to remove the bottom part to change the paper/filter, isn't it difficult to re-align the holes that the air valve goes into? I have everything ready and plan on making them in the next day or two. Just working some questions out in my mind.

    • @justtinkering6054
      @justtinkering6054 6 днів тому

      It's been a while but I believe I tried coffee filters and didn't like how it worked. I know I tried a couple different types of paper. As for realigning the holes, yes it will be difficult. You may try to purposely misalign the holes completely so that the hole would be sealed. Then drill a new hole. I have not had to change the paper in any of my cups. They don't get much use, but I haven't had any problems when I do use them either. I hope this helps.

    7 years late to comment but guaranteed the oil pump screen is clogged with decades of sludge. Remove the top cover plate to look down into the crank case. The owners manual states SAE 90 in the trans/diff. Not! sae140 gear oil For the styled A : 11 quarts engine oil 7 gallons trans/axle oil Drain the right side primary drive gear case every 4 months, the filler plug is near the motor oil fill cap. Refill with 1/2 quart sae90 gear oil. Water forms in there quickly no matter what your climate is Drain the cooling system and clean out the rust and dirt that collects inside around that coolant drain. Love my flushed out 1951 A

    Raking, pushing, or pulling, is unacceptable with the top portion of ANY grapple. The top half of any grapple is designed simply to hold debri. Secondly, while you certainly can do SOME minor work with a compact tractor and attachments, you were doing work that should be done with actual construction equipment. Too many people today, think they can do construction/excavating work with a compact tractor. This is NOT what compact tractors are designed for. This is work for skid steer/dozer/backhoe. In my estimation, you severely misused this equipment. I would not have warrantied this damage either. I see no fault with the way the manufacture handled this. (Especially considering that videoed/posted yourself misusing it) Not trying to be mean.... just stating the obvious.

    On any John Deere should the engine be running or not running when checking engine oil?

    • @johndeere1951a
      @johndeere1951a 12 днів тому

      Engine OFF when checking engine oil level all 2 cylinder models. Tractor supply stocks SHELL SAE 30 which is very good all temperature oil. If your up into the 90° hot climate use SHELL SAE 40, they're in white gallon bottles. To check the trans/diff oil level remove the large 1" 1 1/4" filler plug on the back of the differential housing or cover . SAE90 gear oil in the trans/diff case Get an official John Deere Owner's Manual for your model. It's like a repair manual with the correct information. Too much wrong information floating around the interwebs. Plenty of dirty original correct Owner's Manuals available on google.

      If you are standing behind the boat, looking at the rearend of the outboard. There is a nipple on the right side, just below the hood. If you remove the hood you should see a rubber hose attached to the inside of that nipple. That nipple is the “telltail”. That’s not where all the water comes out but if no water comes out the telltail something is wrong.

    I have been a Commercial Aquatic Herbicide Applicator for 30 years. Diquat is the wrong herbicide. Waste of time & labor. You need to have a translocating herbicide that goes into the roots. Spray cattails in the early to mid-fall ONLY-not any other time of year. Use Aqua Neat aquatic herbicide mixed with a non-ionic surfactant like Cide-Kick. Use 4 oz. of Aqua-Neat per gallon of water and 1 oz. of Cide-Kick per gallon of water. Spray on early, sunny morning. Wait for any dew to dry off leaves. Spray to wet but not dripping.
